History
The Polygraphic Exhibition opened in Moscow on 15 September 1927. It is known to bibliophiles through a few rare photographic images, which are included in this guide. El Lissitzky (1890-1941) turned exhibition design into an art form in its own right, using new lighting techniques, moving mechanisms and gigantic proportions to impress visitors, a style that continues to inspire all contemporary art museums to this day.
