Officer’s reward chachka of the Dragoons of the Order of St George ‘For Valour’, 1881–1909 model modified in 1913, with a pommel set atop a cross of the Order of St George, enamelled in polychrome and adorned with the cipher of Tsar Nicholas II, surrounded by friezes of laurel leaves, the fluted shank, the fully gilded single-branch guard engraved in Cyrillic on both sides with ‘For Valour’, marked underneath with the manufacturer’s mark ‘SCHAFF & CIE’ in Saint Petersburg, the steel blade features an engraving on one side of the double-headed imperial eagle and the mark of the Zlatoust arms factory, surrounded by foliage. With a fitted wooden scabbard covered in brown leather and gilded bronze fittings. Minor knocks. Russia, late 19th – early 20th century. L. 94.5 cm (with scabbard); L. 92 cm (chachka).
