CHINA, late Qing dynasty (1644-1911). Beautiful silk dignitary robe embroidered with gold silk and metallic threads on a deep blue ground, depicting eight dragons among clouds. The robe is decorated with the eight Taoist emblems (an ba xian), the basket of flowers for Lan Caihe under the central dragon. The lower part has diagonal stripes surmounted by waves. Height 138 cm
