INK AND COLOURS ON SILK Depicting a wise man on a mule crossing a bridge towards a pavilion overlooking a waterfall. The scene takes place in Spring, in a mountainous landscape planted with prunus, flowers and longevity pines. Calligraphy top left after Dong Qichang (1555-1636) a Ming Dynasty painter and calligrapher. Bottom right bears an apocryphal signature of Ma Wan "Wen Bi". China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. 172 x 99 cm (Worn and bent, framed under glass)
