Description
China, Daoguang period, 19th century. A pair of gilt bronze circular covered bowls resting on a finely chased openwork base with stylised birds, ruyi and burst peonies. The lid is decorated with eight Buddhist emblems in half-relief, surmounted by a flower forming the handle. These bowls were placed on an altar during Buddhist ceremonies. H. 14.5 cm
