Description
A mask with a grimacing expression reminiscent of Citipati skulls. In Himalayan Buddhist culture, these masks symbolise the impermanence of life and the eternal cycle of life and death; they are found in homes to protect the family circle. Traces of red pigment can be seen around the eyes and mouth. Wood, with a crusty patina. 26 x 20.5 x 8 cm
