Description
GRANGE Fernand – A half-set in solid silver comprising a bracelet and a pair of clip-on earrings, consisting of links decorated with hemispherical cabochons. Modernist period. Circa 1935. Signed ‘F. Grange’ and hallmarked. Weight: 50.10 g. Bracelet length: 18 cm. Note: Fernand Grange was one of the French designers associated with the revival of Art Deco copperwork and silversmithing during the interwar period. Produced by La Gerbe d’Or and later by the G.A.M. — Grands Ateliers Modernes — of which he became artistic director in 1929, he was awarded a Grand Prix at the 1931 Colonial Exhibition. His work forms part of the same decorative exploration as that of Jean Després and Claudius Linossier, centred on hammered metal, geometric forms and a modernist vocabulary applied to objets d’art and jewellery.
