Description
Mrs BIDAL (19th–20th centuries) & Sèvres National Porcelain Manufactory – Porcelain cup and saucer from the Sèvres National Porcelain Manufactory, decorated with flowering branches. Intaglio marks and the manufactory’s stamps on the base: white, dated 1902 and 1903; decoration executed in 1921. Also bears the painter’s mark ‘LR’, according to Mrs Bidal. Dimensions: Diameter 12.5 cm (saucer); Diameter 7.5 cm and Height 4.5 cm (cup). (A small chip, now restored, on the rim of the saucer). Note: Mme Bidal is recorded as having worked at the Sèvres National Porcelain Manufactory between 1906 and 1922, creating decorative designs. Numerous preparatory drawings bearing her signature are held at the National Ceramics Museum in Sèvres, bearing witness to her work within the decoration workshops in the early 20th century.
