Description
BERLOT-MUSSIER MANUFACTORY, known as FAÏENCERIE DU TUNNEL – Earthenware gourd-shaped vase with white crackled glaze, bearing a mark beneath the base depicting a tunnel or a kiln. Circa 1930. Height: 32 cm. Note: Founded in Vierzon in 1927 by Mr Berlot and his son-in-law Mr Mussier, the Berlot-Mussier factory produced, notably during the interwar period, vases, animal figurines in crackled earthenware and Art Deco-style mantelpieces, which were subsequently marketed under the Odyv brand – a contraction of the two first names ODette (Mussier’s daughter) and YVonne (Berlot’s sister). The factory was based on Rue Raspail in Vierzon.
