Pablo PICASSO (1881–1973) Head of a Faun, 1956 Red pencil drawing on the title page of *Homage to Picasso on his 70th birthday*, signed towards the centre and dated 25 September 1953 in the top right-hand corner. 20 x 23 cm (Unframed, paper yellowed at the edges, date and signature slightly faded) Provenance: - Formerly in the collection of Charles Zalber, owner of the Lucie Weill & Seligmann gallery (from the 1990s to 2011), Paris. - Collection of Mr T, Paris Drawing executed on the flyleaf of the book *Homage to Picasso on his 70th Birthday: Drawings and Watercolours since 1893*, published in London by Lund Humphries in 1951, with texts by Roland Penrose and Paul Éluard. This book was published in collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London, to coincide with the exhibition *Picasso: Drawings and Watercolours since 1893, held at the institution from 11 October to 24 November 1951 to celebrate Picasso’s 70th birthday.
