Set of 4 ‘Famille Rose’ porcelain plates, China, 18th century, decorated with flowers, insects and the Sanduo (Three Abundances) on the rim and background, diameter 25–25.5 cm
Provenance: the collection of Edward T. Chow (Qiu Yanzhi, 仇焱之, 1910–1980), which has remained in the family to this day. Edward T. Chow was one of the most important collectors and dealers in Chinese art of the 20th century, particularly renowned for his collection of ceramics. Based in Geneva from 1967 onwards, he built up a collection that has become a benchmark in the field of Chinese art.
