Initially influenced by Robert Delaunay, and regarded as one of Albert Gleizes’s leading pupils, Jean Chevalier exhibited in 1946 at the Réalités Nouvelles in Paris, as well as at the Salon d’Automne in Lyon. His most productive period lasted from 1941 to 1953. Following Gleizes’s death in 1953, his style evolved from geometric figurative works to pure abstraction. Some of these works are held at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, which dedicated an exhibition to him in 2011.
