Description
Koro cup, Nigeria, wood, H.39cmxW.9cm (plinth). The surrealism of the design - with the curved receptacle invading the abdomen - is complemented by the remarkable rigour of the minimalist features and refined volumes. According to Roy Sieber (in RMN, 1997, p. 298), Koro anthropomorphic bowls were used during second funeral rites to drink and pour libations of palm wine.
