Japan, Edo period (1615–1868), 18th/19th century
Natural iron, constructed of five vertical plates, decorated on the front with a coiling dragon hammered in bold uchidashi style, fitted with six sections of five-lame lacquered iron kusazuri laced in blue; with chain mail under-armour, including a collar and sleeves, worn underneath; with an armour stand.
