CONSTRUCTIONS NAVALES - Etablissements G. SEYLER, Ainé. French "passe-partout" type flat-bottomed mixed canoe in pine, ash and mahogany, metal trim, bent ribs. Equipped with a watch-pulling bar, two folding oak armchairs, two sliding "Le Rapide" rowing machines, four paddles and a removable double paddle. Circa 1950, bears a plaque: "CONSTRUCTIONS NAVALES Etablissts G. SEYLER, Ainé - Viaduc de Nogent - pont de Mulhouse - Quai de l'Artois - 1 LE PERREUX". H_30 cm - W_510 cm - D_88 cm Single paddle: W_280 cm (cracks, knocks, small accidents, without mast and missing) Note: Heir to American boats, the French canoe developed rapidly at the end of the 19th century for pleasure boating. Georges SEYLER, the son of a shipwright, set up along the Marne in Le Perreux in 1897. Joined by his brother, they developed a wide range of pleasure rowing boats and motorboats.
