18th-CENTURY FRENCH SCHOOL, after Antonio BALESTRA (1666–1740): ‘The Adoration of the Magi’, in a gilded wooden frame. Restored. Dimensions: 68 x 86 cm. Sold by Benjamin Delessert in Lyon in 1847 (according to the inscription on the reverse). A version of Balestra’s composition held at the Scuola di S. Teodoro in Venice (see L. Ghio and E. Baccheschi, *Balestra*, Bergamo, 1989, no. 77, reproduced fig. 1, p. 243). Appraiser: Cabinet Turquin – Paris, Mrs Philippine Motais de Narbonne.
