Description
Silver GOBELET, PARIS 1744–1750 by Jean DEBRIE, who was admitted to the guild in 1725. Tulip-shaped, it rests on a circular pedestal featuring a single band of ovals and interlacing. The cup, engraved with ‘Catherine Thérèse LE CLERC’, features a traced-mati decoration across two registers separated by two double fillets. Towards the base, lanceolate leaves with flowers, surrounded by interlacing patterns, alternate with some featuring scale-like motifs, separated by lambrequins terminating in multi-lobed leaves. In the upper section, beneath the neckline adorned with fillets, runs a frieze of cartouches with lambrequins embellished with scales, foliage and scrolls (signs of wear in the decoration). Weight: 169 g. Height: 10.7 cm.
