Description
Silver and gold-plated silver SALT SHAKER, bearing the Minerva hallmark (1st Title), made between 1884 and 1910 by Henri SOUFFLOT. In the Neo-Renaissance style, resting on four ‘claw’ feet with foliage-decorated bases, the oval-shaped body—divided into two compartments—is adorned with mascarons, foliage scrolls and garlands. In the centre, serving as a handle, two chimera figures on consoles support an openwork medallion monogrammed ‘D.S.’ surmounted by a seed. Two silver-gilt salt scoops are included, one of which is a design by Henri SOUFFLOT. Total weight 194 g. Length 8.5 cm. Width 6.5 cm. Height 7.5 cm.
