Description
Silver JUG, VERSAILLES 1746–1760, by Mathieu II COINY, who was admitted to the guild in PARIS in 1722 and moved to VERSAILLES before 1738. Baluster-shaped, resting on three feet with double pads and spatula-shaped brackets, the plain body is engraved, possibly with the coat of arms of the GASTINOIS family. The duck-bill spout has a base encircled by a moulded ring and ends in a teardrop shape. The partially domed lid features a rim edged with concentric grooves, surmounted by a spinning-top-shaped knob. Black wooden handle. Net weight 492 g. Height 21 cm.
