Description
PAIR OF SILVER CANDLESTICKS, AIX-EN-PROVENCE 1758 by Honoré BUREL, who was admitted to the guild in 1743. They rest on a base with the initials ‘P.B’ marked on the underside; the neck is encircled by a wreath of ribboned fillets. The triangular, faceted shaft is chased with interlocking scrolls enclosing a panel decorated with rocaille foliage on an amati ground. The bowl consists of six flat sides edged with mouldings (minor signs of wear). It is fitted with two silver candlesticks (slightly misshapen).
