DELICATE BROOCH depicting a swallow in 850 platinum, 750 gold and blackened, textured steel, rose-cut diamonds on the wings, head and body of the swallow, a small cabochon ruby forming the eye, an ingenious articulation mechanism for the swallow’s tail and a screw-fastening system on the brooch clasp. Probably an English piece from the mid-19th century, Victorian era, with an owl hallmark on the clasp shank. PB. g.
