An exceptional and very fine silk GHOUM (Iran), circa 1960–65. Density of approximately 12,000 knots per square decimetre. Silk warp and weft. Rare due to its square shape. A superb multi-lobed, floral and polychrome rosette sits at the centre of an ivory field featuring multicoloured floral scrolls. The four spandrels are floral, featuring arabesques and a tricolour design. The main pistachio-coloured border features a succession of exuberant, fully bloomed flowers, and is highlighted by two ivory counter-borders. Very good overall condition. Great finesse, beautiful polychromy. Dimensions: 296 x 296 cm
