JEAN PROUVÉ (1901-1984)
"Compass Table" also known as "Cafeteria Table; type 512" model designed around [1953].
Large dining room table.
The double legs are triangular in cross-section, mounted in an inverted V-shape, and are made of folded sheet steel. They are joined by a cylindrical steel beam with a sheet steel support plate at each end and steel angles to support the top - all these metal elements are lacquered black.
The top and fields of the rectangular top in oak pacage.
1950s.
Height: 70 cm - Length: 180 cm - Width: 80 cm
(Used condition, restorations, accidents, missing parts and replacements to the oak veneer of the top; oxidation, lacquer chips and scratches to the metal parts).
Provenance :
A family of collectors of modern and contemporary art from Hauts de France. Acquired from Galerie François Laffanour - Downtown in Paris in 1994.
