Art Nouveau drew on various elements of flora and fauna: holly, lotus and iris, as well as mistletoe with its intertwined leaves and berries, were used by leading jewellers such as Lalique, Georges Fouquet and the House of Vever. The mistletoe motif adorned the clasps of gold pouches, as well as hair ornaments such as combs and tiaras made of tortoiseshell, gold and enamel.
