Description
A pair of armchairs in moulded, carved and gilded wood, with a medallion-shaped backrest surmounted by roses and ribbons, resting on four tapered, fluted legs, the front legs featuring a rudenté finish. Upholstered with 18th-century tapestries from the Beauvais Manufactory. The backrests are decorated with a gallant scene: one depicts a woman carrying a basket, the other a gentleman playing the pipe, both set within medallions encircled by a frieze of laurels, flowers and a knotted ribbon. The seats are decorated with animals within cartouches. Floral trim from the Napoleon III period adorns the armrests and side panels. A piece from the Napoleon III period in the Louis XVI style. (Dimensions: 99 x 53 x 71 cm – Height (seat): 47 cm) (some slight loss of gilding, wear to the trim, particularly on the seats)
