Description
A large Neoclassical portico clock in black and white marble with rich gilded bronze decoration.
The circular enamelled dial, featuring Roman numerals, a railway track and Arabic numerals, is supported by a motif of flowering branches and a garland of pansies tied together with a ribbon bow, and is crowned by an antique-style vase with zoomorphic handles, laden with flowers. The pilaster-shaped side panels, adorned with bas-reliefs depicting cascading, knotted trophies and lyres, are surmounted by balusters and flanked by tapered bronze columns. The oval base, embellished with a beaded border, features a bronze bas-relief decorated with cherubs and rests on six disc-shaped feet.
Louis XVI style, late 18th–early 19th century.
