Description
Lacquered bonbonnière with an 18-carat yellow gold mount dating from the Louis XV period, adorned with a later miniature depicting a genre scene.
Paris, 1765/1766.
Hallmarks of Jean-Jacques Prévost, indistinct maker’s mark, French import hallmark for gold (1864–1893).
Circular box with a lid, sides and base made of beige lacquer. The lid is adorned with a circular enamel plaque, painted with a Rococo scene depicting a gentleman seated at a table in front of a tent, being served by two young maids. Fluted mount in gilded silver. Openwork gold mounts on the lid and base, stamped with ovolos and leaves. Interior lined with a speckled brown composition.
