YOROUBA, Igbomina region, Nigeria. Wood, patina, beads, indigo pigments, metal. Ancient female statuette dedicated to the cult of the "ibedji" twins. She is depicted standing on a plinth with her hands on her hips, her chest protruding, her eyes prominent and her hair high and streaked. First half 20th century. H. 31.5 cm.
