Description
SARREGUEMINES. Fine earthenware jug with lid, glazed in gold with pink highlights, known as ‘Burgos’. Incised mark beneath the base. Early 19th century. Height: 22.5 cm. (chip to the lid) It is thought that this decoration was achieved by spraying droplets of spirit onto the ware before firing. The metallic sheen earned Sarreguemines a silver medal at the 1823 World Exhibition of French Industry.
