First edition of this series of 47 original lithographs by the Greek painter and photographer Ianna ANDRÉADIS (born 1960), inspired by Africa. ‘The 47 lithographs that make up this book are like sketches, notes from a travel journal, and are some of my memories, lights, and images glimpsed or dreamt of during my travels in East Africa, in the Great Lakes region. Printed in yellow ochre or red ochre, they are, for me, the traces and imprints of these countries of the land of burnt umber” (introduction). Limited edition of 125 copies on vellum paper, signed by the artist on the title page. This is one of the 100 copies numbered in Arabic numerals, bearing the number 2. A perfectly preserved copy. Volume published in the ‘Paquebot’ collection, comprising 40 original lithographs by the painter Hervé Di Rosa (born 1959), inspired by Joseph Conrad’s novel *Heart of Darkness* (Heart of Darkness) by Joseph Conrad, five of which feature extracts in English and reproductions of the artist’s handwriting. Conrad’s text is a short story recounting a journey through Africa. In it, the author denounces the exploitation of Africans, the brutality of European colonists, and the hypocrisy of the ‘civilising mission’. Limited edition of 125 copies on vellum paper, signed by the artist on the margin. This is one of the 100 copies numbered in Arabic numerals, bearing the number 39. A perfectly preserved copy.
