No place: Published at the expense of an amateur, [1955]. — Folio, 380 x 287: (4 leaves, the first 2 and the last one blank), 156 pp., (6 leaves, the last 3 blank), illustrated cover. Loose-leaf, pasted cover, publisher’s slipcase and case. A print run of 165 copies of this work, part of the *La Comédie animale* series, which portrays animals, including several from Africa (lions, tigers, monkeys, panthers, etc.). It is illustrated with 23 exquisite animal engravings by Odette DENIS. One of the 35 copies on Marais vellum (no. 39), comprising a set of engravings with notes on Johannot. It is enhanced by an autograph letter signed by Odette Denis, addressed to Madame Blondeau, accompanied by a very fine original drawing depicting a leopard licking its paw. Very well-preserved copy. Provenance: Madame Blondeau, with a dedication from the artist.
