4 vol. in-8 (22 x 13 cm), paperback, untrimmed, orange paper, label with printed title on spine.
Original French edition, translated from the English second edition by J. Mac Carthy. The author was the sister of the English consul at the court of Tripoli, Richard Tully; she was related to the family of the Pasha and her account evokes the history, politics and customs of Tripoli.
It is illustrated with 7 aquatint plates (costumes and scenes) and a fold-out map.

First edition of this scientific voyage by Nicolas Baudin to the Canaries and the West Indies, "executed by order of the French Government, from 30 September 1796 to 7 June 1798, under the direction of Captain Baudin, to carry out Research and Collections relating to Natural History". André-Pierre Ledru (1761-1825) accompanied the expedition as a botanist and published this report more than ten years later.
It is illustrated with a large fold-out map of Puerto Rico, engraved on copper by Tardieu.
