First edition of this luxurious publication devoted to Persia and Turkestan, an account of d'Allemagne's trip to Persia, undertaken at the request of the French government in order to gain a better understanding of the archaeological monuments in the region.
Fully mounted on tabs, it is illustrated with an exceptional iconography: 255 plates out of text (including 47 in colour) and 960 photographic illustrations in the text.
Edition of 510 copies, one of 250 reserved for the author. This copy bears a signed autograph letter from the author to his friend Gilbert Jacqueton. An archivist and paleographer, Jacqueton was curator of the library-museum in Algiers. He wrote his own review of this important work in the Bulletin de la Bibliothèque de l'École des Chartes, 1913, no. 74, pp. 155-159.
