4 vol. in-8 (20 × 12.5 cm), green speckled calf, smooth spine decorated, red title-pieces (period binding).
Original French edition, translated from Italian by L. de Sevelinges.
It is illustrated with an engraved portrait of George Washington and 12 fold-out engraved maps.
Bindings rubbed, snags to the spines, worm gallery to two boards. Volume I, title-piece missing.

First edition. Copy complete with fold-out watercolour plan of the siege of York; the 2 maps are missing.
Volumes I and I, tears to the spines. Small wormholes. Volume IV, angular restoration to the first 12 leaves.

First edition of Levasseur's account of General Lafayette's triumphant return to the United States, fifty years after contributing to the victory of American independence. He travelled through New England and New York, then along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.
It is illustrated with a map, 6 (of 8) portraits and 3 plates. Missing 2 portraits. Minor foxing. Spine darkened, binding stained.
