First French edition. Clément Pellé wrote the descriptions of the manners and customs of the Chinese people and Thomas Allom drew the illustrations: 4 English titles and 120 steel-engraved plates (views, scenes of life, costumes, crafts, etc.).
The first English title placed in the middle of the first part. Some foxing. Stamped "Ls Bretonville".
