General description of China. 2 vol. in-8 (19,5 × 12 cm), blue tinted basane, gilt framing, smooth ornate spine, red titles and headpieces (contemporary binding). First separate edition of this famous description, first published as the 13th and last volume of L'Histoire générale de la Chine, ou, Annales de cet empire published by Father Mailla between 1777 and 1785. Illustrated with a large map and 15 folded copper-engraved plates. Slight foxing. Slight rubbing to the binding, small wormholes to the spine of volume I. ATTACHED TIMKOVSKI (Egor Fedorovich). Journey to Peking through Mongolia in 1820 and 1821. Translated from the Russian by N*****, revised by J.-B. Eyriès published, with corrections and notes, by J. Klaproth. Paris, Dondey-Dupré père et fils, 1827. 2 vol. in-8, half brown basane, smooth spine, black titles and giblets (period binding), and one atlas in-folio, half blue morocco with corners, spine ribbed, cover preserved (Bretault). French first edition. The atlas includes an engraved title (dated 1826), a large fold-out map of the itinerary, a fold-out lithographed plan of Peking and one of the Russian embassy, and 8 plates of costumes and local scenes. Text: Some foxing on edges and inside. Volume II, small wetness on the false-title and title, and small marginal tear on p. 33. Slight rubbing to binding.
