Description
MARCHAK Paris, 1950s–1960s A convertible 750‰ yellow gold bracelet with sinuous, fluted, articulated links, centred on two large floral motifs in 950‰ platinum and 750‰ yellow gold. The petals are set, in one case, with sapphires and, in the other, with cushion- and oval-cut rubies, edged with brilliant-cut and 8/8-cut diamonds; the pistils consist of radiating stems also set with diamonds. The two central floral motifs are detachable and can be worn as lapel clip brooches. The bracelet is signed ‘MARCHAK PARIS’ and numbered ‘43541’. The two brooches are signed ‘Marchak PARIS’ and numbered ‘43541’. Made in France, with the diamond-shaped hallmark of the Sibio MARUCCELI workshop. Bracelet – Ratchet clasp and safety hook. Length: 16 cm. Link width: 1.4 cm. Weight: 47.3 g. Brooches – Pins in 750‰ white gold. Dimensions: 4.1 x 3.8 cm and 4.3 x 4.1 cm. Gross weight: 62.7 g. Total gross weight: 110 g. (Slight oxidation, minor loss of material, cracks and scratches). Founded in Kiev in 1878, the House of Marchak – specialising in jewellery and goldsmithing – established itself in Paris in the 1920s, then in New York in the 1950s. Discreet in nature, Marchak has successfully reinvented and revitalised itself whilst retaining its unique identity, from the era of Tsarist Russia, through the Art Deco period, the 1950s and 1960s, and more recently, since the 2000s. Our bracelet, which can be transformed into two cuff clips, and our pair of earrings are part of the Maison’s revival in the 1950s and 1960s. This was a flourishing period for the House, which brought together leading designers and illustrators who breathed new life into the brand: Jacques VERGER, Alexandre DIRINGER and Bertrand DEGOMMIER. The Marchak House is particularly distinguished by its treatment of nature-inspired themes (plants, flowers, animals), combining shapes and colours with a touch of exuberance.
