Lot no. 104
Description
DAUM, Nancy (Lorraine). Art Nouveau suspension lamp in acid-etched double-layered glass, decorated with ash samaras. Lorraine cross signature. Circa 1920. Height: 16.5 cm - diameter: 16.5 cm. Neck diameter: 7.8 cm.
Ash samaras are one of Daum's rarest decorations, even among Ecole de Nancy artists. To our knowledge, only Jules Cayette (1882-1953) used this motif. He worked exclusively with Daum, so it is reasonable to assume that this glass was intended to adorn one of his bronze mounts.
Etienne Martin.
