Description
Silver (800 thousandths) and yellow gold (750 thousandths) bodice front or pendant brooch with openwork scrolls set with old-cut and rose-cut diamonds surmounted by an aigrette decoration, the five weighing a total of approximately 1.80 carats. Late 19th century.
An adapted tassel held by a swan's beak set with a pear-shaped rose-cut diamond weighing approximately 2 carats.
Oxidations, some stones with glazes and breaks.
Size: 59 x 45 mm.
Net weight: 10.8 g
Thanks to ingenious screw systems, 19th-century jewellery could be dismantled and transformed into brooches, bracelets, bodice fronts, headdress ornaments and even tiaras.
The name aigrette refers to the delicate feathers of the heron-like bird known as "la grande aigrette".
