Rectangular brooch in 18-carat gold (750 parts per thousand), centred on a finely crafted micromosaic depicting a goldfinch singing on a branch, with a geometric frieze around the edge; fastened with a spring pin. Italy, Rome, circa 1800–1820. No visible hallmark. H. 3.9 x W. 2.2 cm. Gross weight: 11.1 g. Related works - A micromosaic plaque depicting a goldfinch, with a geometric border frieze similar to ours, attributed to Giacomo Raffaelli, circa 1775–1800, London, Victoria & Albert Museum (inv.
