A Second Empire-era pistol case, made of veneered wood, containing: - a pair of percussion pistols; flat-bodied triggers and hammers, with chiselled foliage decoration; all iron fittings, engraved as a set; rifled barrels with fluted sides, stamped by the Liège Proof House; breech blocks numbered ‘1’ and ‘2’; finger guards; caps with scalloped rims; moulded walnut stocks; iron trims. Calibre 12 mm. Length 24.5 cm. Category D. - a luxurious Flobert-style parlour pistol; rifled barrel, with faceted sides and fluted ridges; all iron fittings, engraved with foliage, small flowers and shells; finger-rest trigger guard; scalloped-rimmed cap, adorned with a central finial; moulded and carved ebony stock. 6 mm rimfire calibre. Length: 38.5 cm. Category D. - various accessories: bullet mould, screwdriver, ramrod, powder puff, etc. (a very slight loss of material beneath one barrel; the end of the ramrod is damaged; very slight signs of wear; key missing)
