Description
Justin FEREZ (1870–1920), a collaborator of Jacques GRUBER (1870–1936) and later an independent cabinetmaker, Nancy – Lorraine. Note the Art Nouveau mirror in carved oak with a poppy motif (a symbol of the Night; this mirror may have been intended for a bedroom). The original bevelled glass and what appear to be three acid-etched stained-glass panels were unfortunately replaced at a later date with modern mirror panes. Circa 1900. Height 173.5 cm – width 103 cm. A small chip at the top. This piece bears a strong resemblance to the woodwork in the Jacques chemist’s on Rue Jeanne-d’Arc in Nancy. Provenance: private collection, Lorraine.
