Description
VATICAN. Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (reorganised in 1847). A superb Commander’s cross for men, presumably in vermeil (unhallmarked), with a military trophy in high relief serving as the loop for the ribbon. Made by ROTHE in Vienna. 20th century. Height: 7.2 cm. In a shaped case, the lid bearing the coat of arms of Pope Pius IX. A small chip in the thickness of the enamel at the tip of one arm, on the reverse.
