VATICAN. Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (reorganised in 1847). A superb knight’s cross for men, presumably in vermeil (unhallmarked), featuring a military trophy in high relief suspended from a ribbon mounted in the Austrian style. Made by ROTHE in Vienna. 20th century. Height: 9 cm. In a shaped case, the lid bearing the coat of arms of Pope Pius IX. A chip in the enamel of a small cross on the reverse.
