Description
GEO-FOURRIER (Lyon, 1898 – Quimper, 1966) Georges FOURRIER, known as The Bosphorus and Saint Catherine in Constantinople, circa 1921 Ink and gouache on paper. Height: 19 cm. Width: 29 cm. Unmounted. This work was likely a preliminary study by Georges Fourrier for a woodcut, following on from his first two works, ‘The Golden Horn’ and ‘Fisherman’s Boat on the Bosphorus’, produced in collaboration with his mentor and friend Auguste Matisse. It appears that no known prints of this work exist to date.
