This port scene depicts the unloading of fish from trawlers in Boulogne-sur-mer in the 1950s. This gouache in monochrome grey corresponds to a commission made to the artist by the Boulogne shipowner Jean Delpierre, which was to have been entitled "Boulogne en Picardie". This work never saw the light of day, and it was finally a work in homage to the sailors lost in the sinking of the Colbert that was published in 1956, "Boulogne grand port de pêche", using part of the illustration. This work, which has remained unpublished, is therefore a precious and unprecedented testimony to life on the coast, but also to an unfinished project by one of Brittany's greatest artists.
