Description
Gae AULENTI (1927-2012) for Editions MARTINELLI LUCE.
Pipistrello" model lamp in aluminium and white thermoformed plastic, agave green - model: 620 MED 9W 2700K LED.
Height 50-62 cm - Diam. 40 cm
In its original packaging and certificate of authenticity.
The "Pipistrello" lamp, designed by post-war design icon Gae AULENTI in 1965, is a classic of Italian design. Its name, which means "bat", refers to the characteristic flared shape of its lampshade, which opens like wings.
The Pipistrello is one of a generation of modular, sculptural lamps, alongside iconic models such as the Lampada Kartell by Joe Colombo and the Arco Floor Lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, which explore both functionality and formal poetry. Its telescopic structure allows you to modulate the height and distribution of the light, while the translucent polycarbonate diffuses a soft, even light.
