Description
SERGE GAINSBOURG
An original two-page draft manuscript of the song ‘Bloody Jack’, written, composed and performed by Serge Gainsbourg, and featured on the album ‘Initials B.B.’, released in 1968 by Philips: ‘Bloody Jack’s heart beats only once in every four beats; when he’s in love, it beats once in every two beats. Sometimes I feel… that Bloody Jack is going to die; perhaps I’m losing my mind when he holds me close to him, heart to heart, my heart beating faster, and despite myself, I’m drawn to it… ‘Tambourin Man’ is the anguish of an uncertain love in the early hours… But whilst my heart is racing inside me, I can barely hear his… It’s like an anguish that grips me. Heart to heart, my heart beats faster, as if gripped by fear, but whilst my own heart flutters within me, I can barely hear his heart.’ A song also recorded by Zizi Jeanmaire in 1968. An exceptional document in the artist’s own handwriting. Size 21x27 cm. In fine condition.
