Description
MICHAEL JACKSON One of three T-shirts, entitled ‘Torso Black Spiky Shirt’, worn by the artist during the filming in April 1995 of the music video for the song ‘Scream’, a duet with his sister Janet Jackson. The video was broadcast extensively from 31 May 1995, the day the single was released in over 71 countries. For the record, the artist’s official stylists, Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, designed all the major official outfits worn by the King of Pop both offstage and on stage, but Michael Jackson often wore T-shirts, belts, scarves, costume jewellery… purchased by other stylists tasked with sourcing complementary fashion items. This very distinctive black flock-printed T-shirt, for example, was supplied by Dexter Wong’s workshops in Los Angeles. The label on the T-shirt was deliberately cut off by the artist. Provenance: After filming had finished, it was given by the artist to one of the founding members of his Club in Los Angeles.
