Tomback was the owner and operator of Graphic Industries Inc. in New York and printed for a number of New York galleries, including the Leo Castelli Gallery, from the late 1950s or early 1960s until the early 1980s, when he retired to Florida. He died in 1986. Tomback had a partner, Jerry Salk, until sometime during the 1970s. The separation drawings have since been acquired by the National Gallery of Art. " (Mary Lee Corlett, The Prints of Roy Lichtenstein, A Catalogue Raisonné, 1948–1997, New York, Hudson Hills Press and Washington, National Gallery of Art, p. 286).
